Writing a Proposal

You are ready to begin writing once you can describe your project in one or two sentences.

Before you start to write, read the application instructions carefully. Then read them again. Funding agencies report that the most common problem with proposals is failure to follow directions.

This section of the website features links to proposal writing guidelines for the major federal funders, such as NSF and NIH, as well as general grant-writing tips, guides, and tutorials. The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs also scheduled grant development and writing workshops throughout the year. Check the ORSP workshops calendar or call ext. 73461 for information.
